Rubies

Founded in 1950 by World War II veteran Rubin Beige and his wife Tillie, the couple oipened Rubies Candy Store in Woodhaven, Queens New York. By 1959 the dynamic duo had renamed the candy store Rubies Fun House and began selling jokes and novelties offering a wider array of items for their customers to purchase.

Within another 10 years passing and the boom of the American holiday of Halloween, the store opened a the Rubies fancy dress department for costume rental only. By the early 1970s the Beige family completely made the jump into the wonderful world of fancy dress costumes by renaming the business to Rubies Costume Company.

By 1990 Rubies had signed it's first major licensing agreement and started to present the world it's range of officially licensed Star Wars fancy dress costumes. Around this time the operation began to expand into Canada, by 1996 Rubies UK opened and a year later Rubies Germany.

Today, Rubies is a world leader in official licensed fancy dress and has it's own range of unique costume designs for both adults and children.
